Commissioners
Promoting social value in procurement
Inspire2Enterpise works with public service commissioners to make tenders and contracts more accessible to social enterprises.
We raise awareness of social impact and its importance in the new era of ‘outcomes-based government’. And we demonstrate how, following the recent reformation of the public sector, social enterprises can help meet the needs and expectations of government and end-users alike.
To motivate and enable commissioners’ engagement with social enterprises, we encourage the inclusion of social impact criteria in tenders, focusing contract requirements on the specialisms and services that can be best met by social enterprises, agencies and organisations.
We have also helped to develop programmes aimed at opening up supply chains and contracts to social enterprises, such as the £1 Billion University Challenge. The £1 Billion University Challenge was pioneered by our academic partners at Northampton University. It aims to motivate the UK's Higher Education sector to allocate at least £1 billion of the £7 billion it spends each year on procurement to sourcing goods and services from social enterprises.
If you’re involved in commissioning and want to find out more about the £1 Billion University Challenge, or about how we can help you engage with social enterprises, please get in touch.
