Small Business Saturday – support, inspire and promote your business
Small Business Saturday UK is a campaign which highlights small business success, encouraging consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities. It takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses. This year’s event takes place this Saturday 6th December.
The campaign was run for the first time in the UK last year and was a ‘runaway success’ with over £460 million spent in small businesses on the day and 40% of all Local Authorities supporting the campaign. This year, organisers are hoping for an increase in consumer engagement on the day, building on the success of last year (48% in 2013 according to research by American Express).
Small business owners across the country will host events, offer discounts and collaborate with each other to open their doors to as many shoppers as possible.
43% of shoppers chose to shop locally on their high street because of Small Business Saturday according to research from last year’s event. This year organisers are hoping the figure can be even higher this year.
Please visit the Small Business Saturday website for ideas and inspiration for this year’s event.
