Last summer saw the launch of the National Consortium of Social Enterprises (NCSE) by 3SC in partnership with Social Firms UK and Social Enterprise UK. The NCSE has been formed in response to the demand from the public service commissioner market to have more social enterprises in their supply chains. It aims to make it easier for public service commissioners to contract from social enterprises.

The online volunteering platform Do-it has been revamped to allow people to share volunteering opportunities through social media. The redevelopment of the site went live last week and has now been optimised for mobile and tablet devices.

A small group with backgrounds in research, teaching, art and design had formed to take over the running of a disused biological field centre in Mid Wales. The plan was to use action research methods to learn about the challenges and opportunities of sustainable place making, while returning the buildings to use as a resource for local communities and a base for teaching and learning.
