Government launches a waste prevention programme for England
A waste prevention programme for England has been launched, setting out the Government’s view of the key roles and actions which should be taken to move towards a more resource efficient economy.
The aim of the Programme is to improve the environment and protect human health by supporting a resource efficient economy, reducing the quantity and impact of waste produced whilst promoting sustainable economic growth.
Along with setting out the key actions the Government will be taking to support a move towards a more resource efficient economy, the programme also sets out a number of actions that businesses, the wider public sector, the civil society and consumers can take to benefit from preventing waste.
A new two year £800,000 Community Partnership Fund will also be launched, helping central government, local authorities, businesses, civil society and individuals to implement innovative waste prevention actions in their local areas.
