Head of Strategic Development

Salary: competitive (dependent on experience) plus car allowance, 10.5% pension and benefits

Main purpose of job

To significantly contribute to the income and output objectives of the Inspire2Enterprise service by developing, managing and maintaining high level strategic relationships throughout the UK and Ireland with key influencers including corporate/private, Third Sector and statutory organisations, supply chains, channels, networks and other partners, so as to maximise income generation, identify and develop market making opportunities and lead on market innovation.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Achieve key team performance targets and objectives
  • To lead on the development of a market making strategy and identify/pursue opportunities nationally, working with marketing and research teams
  • To manage the relationship management, commercial activity and event management functions with a focus on generating income
  • To be a key driver in market innovation/product development designed to capitalise on existing market opportunities, exploit niche/new opportunities aligned to service enhancement, income generation and market penetration
  • Work with and identify opportunities through high level strategic and joint-working relationships throughout the UK across Public, Corporate and Third Sector organisations that generate supply and demand opportunities

Knowledge/experience required

  • A highly skilled professional team player, with demonstrable senior management experience essentially within the Third Sector and ideally within the Private and/or Public sectors
  • A demonstrable track-record in indentifying, developing, growing and maintaining significant high level, mutual value-based relationships
  • Experience in the development and conversion of opportunities that lead to chargeable service enhancements and market making initiatives
  • A credible strategic and functional understanding and knowledge of social enterprise and the broader Third and Public Sectors in particular
  • Demonstrable skills in negotiating commercial and contract arrangements at a senior level that realise significant revenue, and enhance market positioning and brand reputation
  • A natural commercial acumen supported by intuitive opportunity skills i.e. strategic collaboration, referral channels, revenue generation
