University Of Northampton
The University of Northampton is dedicated to high quality higher education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, through taught courses and research. As Northamptonshire’s only dedicated higher education institution, it is committed to the transfer of knowledge and technology to the community and aims to contribute to the cultural development of the region.
The University of Northampton is committed to improving the economic, social and cultural life of its region and as such has set a target of becoming the leading higher education institution in social enterprise by 2015.
Vice Chancellor, Nick Petford, says, “The University of Northampton is the number one university for social enterprise in the UK. In addition to directly supporting our students and staff to learn about, set up and run social enterprises, we are investing in selected social enterprises directly, and supporting the entire sector by way of the Inspire2Enterprise service. This has been a significant investment for us but it is one we have been proud to make as we know that social enterprises have a key role to play in the UK’s future prosperity and that, with the right support, they are better positioned to deliver sustainable social impact and change.”
