Late Payment Regulations
Some good news for smalls businesses suffering from late payments from big companies. As of the 6th of April, the new legislation will be implemented in an attempt to tackle late payment culture; the appointment of a small business commissioner to support SMEs in resolving payment disputes will have been completed.
Childcare Business Grants Scheme Re-opened
The childcare business grants scheme is now open to newly registered childminders, childcare providers and childminder agencies. Grants of up to £1,000 are available but obviously check the eligi- bility requirements first.
Latest Funding News
The Foundation for Social Investment
The Impact Management Programme will provide grants of up to £50,000 to help organisations scale their impact and diversify their income by securing investment. All applicants must attend a training session about the purpose of the Impact Management Programme before they can apply for a grant.
RDPE Growth Programme
£120m has been made available to support businesses, new jobs and growing the economy in rural areas. By following this link you will have access to handbooks that will be able to give you a better idea about the project and your eligibility before filling out the expression of interest form.
Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire (visit website)
The business and IP Centre at the Northamptonshire library has recently launched and with it, providing plenty of events to help support businesses. In order to get onto these events you will need to register onto them through Eventbrite, but the appropriate links are easily found through the link above. These events help support fundamentals in starting a business and may still provide useful information for those already clued up.
Chris Maslin’s layman guide to confirmations statement and persons of significant control (visit website)
While this guide was posted last year, it’s a useful guide to explaining how you list persons of significant control (PSC) for instances like Company House’s confirmation statement. In short a PSC is someone with >25% share ownership in your company, but read the guide for more details.

A useful webinar by Social Enterprise UK (SEUK), while the video is an hour long, our advisors said “this was interesting as it dealt with SEUK and their work with some large corporates e.g. Wates and Johnson & Johnson, with some advice on how to get the ball rolling when working with the private sector.” Other webinar events can be found listed on the SEUK events page.
