ICO Service to Help Small Businesses Prepare for New Data Protection Laws
In a further attempt to assist small businesses with preparations for new data protection laws, the ICO added a phone service from the 1st of November. They have also announced plans to further simplify its huge popular “12 steps to take now” graphic after requests for targeted information about how to prepare for the GDPR.

Big Lottery Fund – Place Based Social Action Programme
The big Lottery Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport are offering £4.5m of funding to projects that will support social action in local communities. Guidance on the scheme says this funding can be used to help people and organisations to take action on issues that matter to them.
Transform Foundation – Charity Website Grants
Funding of up to £18,000 to cover the strategy, design, build, content strategy, training, QA is available to charities meeting the eligibility criteria. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and the grant covers 100% of the website design and build costs, your organization will need to cover ongoing costs for a minimum of a 12 month commitment.
NCSC Cyber Security: Small Business Guide
A cyber security guide for small businesses has been published in light of recent phishing scams. The website contains many useful guides which includes backing up data, protecting from malware, avoiding phishing attacks and using passwords to protect data.
It also comes in infographic form which can be printed off and distributed easily.
